In Palermo, until 1852, Porta Di Termini arised on the actual intersection between Garibaldi Street and Milan Street and for many centuries it represented the exit point for the southern countryside. It is one of the most ancient gates of Palermo, even if it is not known the origin, it was already quoted in 1171. It was rebuilt in 1328 after the battle led by the duke of Calabria by Federico II and restored in 1470 by the praetor Pietro Speciale.
